These terms are the agreement between you and StudentHub. They cover what you can expect from us, what we expect from you, and what happens when something goes wrong. They apply every time you use the app. Read them together with our Privacy Policy, which explains what we do with your data.
StudentHub (“we”, “us”, “the app”) is operated as an independent student project. By creating an account you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, do not create an account, and if you already have one, you can delete it at any time from Settings → Delete my account.
We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or acting on behalf of any university, Neptun, Canvas, Moodle, or any of the shops, venues or ticket sellers whose offers appear in the app.
Keep your details accurate and your password to yourself. You are responsible for what happens under your account. If you think someone else has access to it, change your password and tell us.
You must confirm your email address before you can use the app. We may send you service messages: verification codes, security notices, and reminders you have asked for. You can turn off optional notifications in Settings; you cannot turn off essential service messages while you have an account.
Verification means you signed in to your university’s own Neptun system through the app and confirmed the email address on your account. It unlocks the parts of StudentHub that are students‑only: the marketplace and the roommate finder.
It is not a background check. A verified badge says a person could log in to a student account. It says nothing about whether they are honest, safe, or will do what they promised. Treat every other user as a stranger, because they are.
Do not verify using someone else’s credentials, and do not submit a student ID that isn’t yours. We can revoke verification, and the access that comes with it, if we have reason to believe it was obtained dishonestly.
Connecting a school system is optional and you do it with your own credentials, on your school’s own login page, inside the app. Your use of those systems is governed by your university’s rules, not ours. We read only what your account already shows you, and only to display it back to you.
Your university can change or block how its systems work at any time, and a sync can fail for reasons entirely outside our control. Timetables, grades and GPA shown in StudentHub are a convenience copy. Your university’s own record is the authoritative one. Check it before you rely on a deadline, a grade, or a graduation calculation.
These apply everywhere in the app: listings, roommate cards, photos, messages, names and bios.
Never post, send, or offer:
We have zero tolerance for abusive users and objectionable content. Every listing, roommate card and profile can be reported from inside the app, and every user can be blocked. Reports are reviewed, and content that breaks these rules is removed. Where we believe someone is at risk, or a crime may have been committed, we may contact the authorities.
StudentHub is a place to find each other. Everything after that (agreeing a price, meeting, paying, handing over keys) happens directly between you and the other student. We are not a party to that deal. We are not the seller, the buyer, the landlord, the tenant or an agent, we take no commission, and no payment passes through the app.
If you post a listing:
If you answer a listing:
New and edited listings pass through automated checks before they go live, and can be reviewed by a person. Automated checks are a filter, not a guarantee: a published listing is not an endorsement and we do not verify goods, prices, ownership or condition.
The roommate finder is for finding flatmates. It is not a dating service, and using it as one is a breach of these terms. It is limited to verified students aged 18 or over, shows you only students of your own gender in your own city, and never reveals an exact address.
A match means two people were curious about each other. Nothing more. Before you agree to live with someone: meet in person, in public, more than once; see the flat; talk about money in writing; and tell a friend where you’re going. You can pause your card, delete it, block a person or report them at any time.
Messages are private between you and the other student, but they are not end‑to‑end encrypted. We can access message content where it is necessary to investigate a report, comply with the law, or protect someone’s safety. Don’t send anything you would not want reviewed in that situation, and never send passwords, card numbers or ID documents in chat.
Deleting a conversation removes it for you. The other person keeps their copy; we cannot delete what is on their side. Blocking is mutual: once either of you blocks the other, neither can see or message the other anywhere in the app.
Grocery deals, student discounts and events are collected from shops, venues and ticket sites. Prices, availability, dates and terms belong to those businesses and change without notice. We show them as a convenience and cannot guarantee any of them are current or correct. A discount is between you and the business offering it; if it isn’t honoured, that is a matter for them. Links to third‑party sites are not endorsements.
Budget, subscription and currency tools are for your own planning. Exchange rates come from public reference data and are indicative, not a quote. None of this is financial advice.
If you break these terms, we may, depending on how serious it is and whether it has happened before:
For clear and serious cases (content sexualising minors, threats of violence, trading in people or weapons) we act immediately and permanently, without a warning first.
We will tell you what happened and why, unless telling you would get in the way of an investigation or put someone at risk. If you think we got it wrong, reply to the notice or write to us and a person will look again. Filing reports you know to be false is itself a breach.
Whatever you post stays yours. To be able to show it, you give us a non‑exclusive, worldwide, royalty‑free licence to host, store, resize and display your content inside StudentHub, for the purpose of running the service. That licence ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies we must keep for a limited time to investigate a report or to comply with the law.
We will not sell your content, and we will not use your photos to advertise the app without asking you first. You confirm that you have the right to post what you post, and that it does not infringe anyone else’s rights. If you believe something in StudentHub infringes your copyright, write to us with the details and we will look into it.
The app itself (its name, design, code and text) belongs to us. You may use StudentHub for its intended purpose. You may not copy or resell parts of it, scrape its data, or use it to build a competing dataset. Automated access is not permitted without our written agreement.
Businesses may be given accounts to post accommodation, discounts, jobs and events. If you use one, you confirm you are authorised to act for that business, that your offers are genuine and accurate, and that you will honour them on the stated terms. Everything in section 6 applies to you as well, and we can withdraw a partner account at any time.
We provide StudentHub as it is and as it is available. Features may change, and parts of the app depend on services we do not control: universities, push notification providers, transport and currency data. We may take the service down for maintenance; where we can, we will say so in the app beforehand.
StudentHub is free for students. If we ever introduce a paid feature, we will say so clearly and it will never take away something you already had for free without notice.
Because the important things here happen between students, in person, there is a limit to what we can promise. We do not guarantee that the service will be uninterrupted or error‑free, that academic data copied from your university is complete or current, or that any other user is who they say they are or will behave decently.
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for what other users do, for deals arranged through the app, for any loss arising from a transaction or meeting, or for indirect or consequential loss.
Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law. That includes death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, and any of your rights as a consumer under Hungarian and EU law that cannot be excluded or restricted by agreement. If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest continues to apply.
You can stop using StudentHub whenever you like, and delete your account from Settings → Delete my account or from our account‑deletion page. Deletion removes your personal data as described in the Privacy Policy.
We may end this agreement, with notice, if you break these terms, or without notice where the breach is serious or ongoing. We may also close accounts that have been dormant for a long period, after telling you first. Sections that by their nature should survive (your content licence for anything we must retain, liability, and governing law) continue to apply after the agreement ends.
These terms are governed by Hungarian law. If you are a consumer, you keep the protection of the mandatory rules of the country you live in, and you may bring proceedings in your local courts.
If something goes wrong, please write to us first. Most things are solved that way. Consumers in the EU can also use the European Commission’s online dispute resolution platform at ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr. Complaints about how we handle personal data can go to the Hungarian National Authority for Data Protection and Freedom of Information (NAIH, naih.hu).
We may update these terms as the app changes; the date and version above will change with them. For anything material we will tell you in the app before it takes effect. If you keep using StudentHub after that, you accept the new terms; if you don’t agree with them, you can delete your account.
